Touch of Frost (Mythos Academy #1)

'My name is Gwen Frost, and I go to Mythos Academy a school of myths, magic and warrior whiz kids, where even the lowliest geek knows how to chop off somebody's head with a sword and Logan Quinn, the hottest Spartan guy in school, also happens to be the deadliest.
But lately, things have been weird, even for Mythos. First, mean girl Jasmine Ashton was murdered in the Library of Antiquities. Then, someone stole the Bowl of Tears, a magical artifact that can be used to bring about the second Chaos War. You know, death, destruction and lots of other bad, bad things. Freaky stuff like this goes on all the time at Mythos, but I'm determined to find out who killed Jasmine and why especially since I should have been the one who died. . .'

Almost a 5 but since the book had a couple things that annoyed me a little I had to drop it down. One thing that got me was stuff repeating itself. Some things just need to be said once and hopefully it will stick (but if not, the pages do not get erased after you read them, you can go back) so that being said there is no need to make the reader have to keep reading it over and over. Anyway I did enjoy the book, it was a little slow at first and with Gwen being an outcast she doesn't have any friends to really talk to. Gwen goes to Mythos Academy an academy school which from the outside looks like any other school except the kids that go to this school have special abilities in killing and have been training their whole lives to be warriors...all except Gwen who feels like she doesn't really belong at the school. When a murder happens and Gwen discovers the murder Gwen takes it upon herself to do some searching with her gift that she has. All she has to do is touch something and Gwen will get flashes/images even emotions from the object. Gwen did end up making some friends through the story and I loved Gwen and Daphne's growing friendship...hilarious and unexpected. In the ending of this book Gwen is told that she is to take extra lessons in fighting, and the instructor ends up being her new love interest... Logan Quinn. So I find myself waiting to read the next book.

Turned (The Vampire Journals #1)

Turned (The Vampire Journals, #1)

'Eighteen year old Caitlin Paine finds herself uprooted from her nice suburb and forced to attend a dangerous New York City high school when her Mom moves again. The one ray of light in her new surroundings is Jonah, a new classmate who takes an instant liking to her.

But before their romance can blossom, Caitlin suddenly finds herself changing. She is overcome by a superhuman strength, a sensitivity to light, a desire to feed--by feelings she does not understand. She seeks answers to what’s happening to her, and her cravings lead her to the wrong place at the wrong time. Her eyes are opened to a hidden world, right beneath her feet, thriving underground in New York City. She finds herself caught between two dangerous covens, right in the middle of a vampire war.

It is at this moment that Caitlin meets Caleb, a mysterious and powerful vampire who rescues her from the dark forces. He needs her to help lead him to the legendary lost artifact. And she needs him for answers, and for protection. Together, they will need to answer one crucial question: who was her real father?

But Caitlin finds herself caught between two men as something else arises between them: a forbidden love. A love between the races that will risk both of their lives, and will force them to decide whether to risk it all for each other...'

A very generous 3, I got Turned because it was free (and I couldn't very well turn down a free book, I mean come on) it wasn't the worst book ever because I did finish but with some work it could be a lot better. It had grammar issues that were pretty obvious that I wonder how they were missed. A blind person could have seen those mistakes. It was fast paced but the story itself needed work also. I mean the main character falls for two different guys in a few pages. I also was reading one part of the story that wasn't making sense to me, Caitlin had forgotten her cell at home so she goes back to get it, while there she is interrupted by the death of her mother and the vampires that killed her mother. Now she gets away but I could not for the life of me remember reading that she managed grabbing her cell on the way out. When reading on threw I got to a part where she does end up having her phone. So I don't know if I somehow missed this part or what but it had me thinking for quite a while. Another thing that I noticed was that everyone is snappy. It seemed that everyone that came in contact with Caitlin used harsh manners...he snapped, she snapped, really not every snaps comments every time they speak. Caitlin annoyed me a little also, she never got her questions out and if she did she would choose the most pointless one that wouldn't give her answers to anything. I don't know if I will continue to read the series or not. From some other comments I've read from other books in the series it doesn't seem like the books are getting any better. If I find them for free in the library then yeah I might take a crack at them but for now ill remain undecided...

Agents Of Evil Series

Released by Megan Duncan

Released (Agents Of Evil #1) by: Megan Duncan

After a demon apocalypse kills their parents and everyone they know, 17-year old Abby Phillips, her brother, Carter, and friend, Max flee their home to travel through what has become the wastelands of America. When radio transmissions of a resistance offering shelter and safety cease, Abby is tempted to give up. Struggling to overcome life-threatening obstacles in their dangerous journey, Abby and her companions quickly discover there are much worse things lurking in the dark than they could have ever imagined.

Loved it!!! The story moved right along from the get go and held my attention until the very end. The story follows Abby, her brother Carter, and his best friend Max as they take their journey to travel to what they think is a safe military base for them and other survivors that are out there. They do quite a bit of demon fighting but along the way its not only demons that they end up defending themselves from. I loved the characters and Abby was an excellent heroine. If there ever was a demon apocalypse I wouldn't mind being with them lol. I would recommend to any readers who like demon butt kicking. http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/214999174

Chaos (Agents Of Evil #2) by: Megan Duncan

'Is any shot at living, worth dying for? They thought they’d be safe, but a world ruled by chaos doesn’t die easily. When Max turned on the radio transmissions assuring safety, they came. But, it wasn’t just survivors of the demon apocalypse that crawled their way into the abandoned military base. A myriad of beastly demons unlike any they’ve ever seen, came as well. Abby, and her companions, struggle to survive as the evil around them grows. Desperate to endure, and to defend their fellow survivors, Abby and a squad of fierce fighters, take on a dangerous mission that has deadly consequences.'

Too short but I loved it anyway...especially since there will be another book! So can't wait for that to come out. As soon as I started Chaos I was sucked into the second book of the series. We learn about new demons and meet new characters. Abby and Max grow closer in their relationship and it seemed like Carter might get a new love interest in one of the new characters but I don't want to give a whole lot away. Around the ending to Chaos Carter tells Abby what he believes he has discovered to stop the demons from entering the earth and it leaves you wondering what this band of survivors are going to do in the next book Vengeance.
